The most wanted terrorist leader was killed last Friday. On the same day as Prince William married Kate Middleton in London and major parts of the world were celebrating and rejoicing, Bin Laden was killed in his home in Pakistan. Today's news caused more rejoicing. But will the death of Bin Laden give us a safer world?
When former president Bush started the search for Bin Laden, and American and other countries' forces entered Afghanistan, he was accused of making the world an unsafer place. Whether or not the accusations were right, can be discussed. If we saw more or fewer terror attacks because of president Bush, is impossible to say.
What will happen now? Will terror belong to the past just because Bin Laden is dead? Or can there be put accusations against president Obama for making the world an even unsafer place? I can understand that many people rejoice. But international terror has not been a threat just because of one man. When one leader disappears, history tells that another leader will rise. The latest years' development of Al Qaida tells me that the organisation is now less depending on one world known leader than they were 10 years ago.
The days, weeks and months to come will give some answers.
