You have become estranged from Christ, you who attempt to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace. (Galatians 5:4)
Paul is very straight in his words here. He says that if you try to be justified by law, you have fallen from grace. It is an important fact about salvation, that law and grace cannot be mixed. Romans 11:6 says: ”And if by grace, then it is no longer of works; otherwise grace is no longer grace. But if it is of works, it is no longer grace; otherwise work is not longer work”. So, you cannot mix your own works and God’s grace. Because if you do, grace is not longer grace. And without grace, there is no salvation.
Even it this is a clear fact about salvation in the Bible, a lot of believers try their very best to keep the commandments, believing that God will be happy with them if they should manage. My brother and my sister in Christ, rest from your own works in attempt to make God happy with you. I can assure you this: you will never manage to keep the commandments according to God’s standard. God knew that, so therefore He wiped out the commandments that were against us and He nailed them to the cross after Jesus Christ had fulfilled them, ref Colossians 2:14.
Rest in Jesus Christ! God is happy with you! And the good things that you do and say, that it is our Lord who does in you.
