22nd July, 2011. This date will forever be a major part of Norwegian people's memory. It was the day when terrorism reached the small and peaceful Norway. Many are in shock. When a colleague called me, my reaction was also a result of shock. But I am not really so shocked. Relieved and happy, though, that I am on vacation and therefore not present in my office - less than 100 metres away from where the bomb went off. Also relieved and happy that my nearest colleagues are in good shape.
But not shocked. It was bound to happen - sooner or later. Terrorism had already come to our neighbour countries Sweden and Denmark. One important question now is how 22nd July 2011 will affect the Norwegians and the Norwegian society. Both the Prime Minister and the Major of Oslo underlined that the terrorists must never succeed in their attempt to ruin the democracy and freedom of our country.
As Christians, it is time to pray. Of course not just now, but for sure also now. We need to pray for our country, for our citizens, for inhabitants in Norway with other citizenships, for our political leaders, for everyone in powerful positions. We also need to pray for those who are responsible for this evil and coward attack. Jesus Christ said that we should come to Him with our burdens. To help and guide us in the time to come, we pray for the wisdom of our heavenly Father. In Jesus' name. Amen!
