Feeling judged and condemned by Christians?

If you are or ever have been feeling judged and condemned by Christians, this is an import word for you. It is an important word for you who are not a Christian and it is an important word for you who are a Christian.

There are condemning Christians among those who base their faith mostly on the old covenant, those who believe that you have to do good so that God shall not be angry with you. And there are condemning Christians among those who base their faith solely on God's grace in the new covenant, those who believe that Jesus Christ already has taken upon Himself the punishment for their wrongdoings. You might be fooled to believe that Christians who base their faith solely on grace will never judge and condemn. But unfortunately, that is not true.

Many Christians seem to believe that God rates different wrongdoings and sins. They seem to believe that some wrongdoings and sins are worse than others. In the sermon on the mount, Jesus clearified that it is not so. Christians will say that they have never killed anyone. In the sermon on the mount, Jesus said that if anyone has had a bad thought about another person it is the same as killing according to God's standard. In this sermon, Jesus was letting people know that God's standard is impossible to live up to. Even a small wrongdoing does not make anyone 100% clean in God's eyes. By sending Jesus Christ, God has given us 100% grace  -  not just 75% or just 8%. Believing that you do not need God's 100% grace through Jesus Christ is actually the only sin that will keep you out of Heaven.

Despite what Jesus was saying in the sermon on the mount, Christians seem to make their own standard of acceptable wrongdoings. Christians who belive that they have to do good define a standard that they believe they live up to. People who are not the same "good" are being judged and condemned. Christians who base their faith solely on God's grace, also define a standard of acceptable wrongdoings. Their standard says that Jesus has taken upon Himself the wrongdoings within their standard. People with wrongdoings that do not fit inside their defined standard are being judged and condemned.

So if you are among those of us Christians who are or have been feeling judged and condemned by other Christians, let God remind you that you are His righteousness in Jesus Christ. No other Christian can remove God's righteousness that you have because of your faith in Jesus Christ. Also know that their wrongdoings are not considered any less bad than your wrongdoings. They also need God's grace, even for the wrongdoings that they have defined to be acceptable within their standard.

If you are a non-Christian and being judged and condemned by Christians, know that they are not any better than you. They need Jesus Christ as much as you do.
