Even while enjoying coffee and cake right after a church service that has had a specific focus on God's grace, it is sad to observe how quite a number of Christians do not seem to be able to draw a line of love and reconciliation from the message that they hear and the scripture that they read to actual happenings in our daily life.
In 2nd Corinthians 5:19 it says that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation. The chapter ends in verse 21 where it says that He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
In Romans chapter 5, we read that He has given us abundance of grace, and that the work of Jesus Christ on the cross is a free gift to all men, resulting in justification of life (verse 18).
Despite these scriptures that confirm that we have become God's righteousness, that we are given abundance of grace, and that He has committed to us the word of reconciliation, we observe that quite a number of Christians behave and talk as if to them has been committed a word of condemnation. Their words of badly hidden condemnation about Christian brethren spread around like a virus - to make innocent people at the neighbour tables either infected or sick of compassion for those who are victims of the condemning words.
Most people know John 3:16. In verse 18, two verses later, it says that He who believes in Him is not condemned. In verse 19, it says what the condemnation really is; that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. Jesus Christ is the light, and the light has come into the world with reconciliation. Condemnation is connected to the darkness.
People who behave and talk as if they have been given a word of condemnation, should seriously think this over - and instead allow the abundance of grace to flow.
