TV program about how to improve morality in our society

I happened to watch the last ten minutes of an interesting program on Swedish TV2 this morning. The information about the program said: "What can the Christian belief do for morality in our society? The priest George Hargreaves lets a number of non-Christians try to live according to the Christian belief for a couple of weeks".

I did not watch the complete program, just the last ten minutes. But if the whole program dealt with the Christian belief the way the guy on focus the last ten minutes experienced, the program will not at all be a good tool to improve morality in our society. The guy on focus in the last part of the program was told not to look at women, not to get drunk and so on. He was writing down "the commandments" given to him in order for him to remember and live according to them. But he did not manage. He did not manage because managing them depended on his own efforts and his own strength.

In Colossians 2:14 it says:

[God] having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.

In Exodus 31:18 it says that God gave Moses two tablets of stone, written with the finger of God. That was definitely handwriting, right? And what was it that God wrote with His finger? It was the ten commandments. In the Old Testament, God gave the handwriting with the ten commandments to Moses. In the New Testament, He wiped out the handwriting with the ten commandments, when He nailed it to the cross. He took it out of the way. He removed it to open the way for us to get access to Him.

The handwriting of requirements was against us. The ten commandments were against us. If you who read this do your best to keep the ten commandments, you will experience that you fail however hard you try  -  and when you fail, you easily condemn yourself. God does not want you to fail and He does not want you to condemn yourself. So, He took the commandments out of the way. Instead, He gave us the right to look upon Jesus Christ because He is the only way that gives us access to God. He is the truth. He is the life.

Romans 8:2 refers to the commandments as the law of sin and death, and the same verse refers to and confirms that Jesus Christ is life. God took the law of sin and death out of the way, and replaced it with life in Jesus Christ.

It is sad that the priest in this particular program and many other representatives of the church keep using commandments to change people in order to improve morality in our society. It is sad because being a priest or another representative of the church, it should have been a known fact that God has wiped out the handwriting of requirements, and that He has done so to prevent people from experiencing failure and self-condemnation.

There is nothing neither of us can manage by our own efforts and in our own strength. So, why do many Christians of today seem to think that commandments will help, when the commandments are referred to in the Bible as the law of sin and death? Why don't we rather tell non-Christians about Jesus Christ, that He removed our sins on the cross and that He gave us life. When we receive Jesus Christ in our life, we do not have to do things by our own efforts and in our own strength. Because He is our strength. Not only is He life and strength, He is also the truth and the way. So, when having received Jesus Christ, life lives inside of us.

No list of commandments can manage to improve morality  -  on the contrary. On the cross, Jesus Christ took upon Himself our sins and gave us God's righteousness. Receiving Jesus Christ represents a total change of a person's life. It is Jesus Christ in each and everyone one of us who can manage to improve morality in our society  -  no one else. And priests and other religious people who live under the law of sin and death, should repent. They should repent, change their mind set, so that they will live by faith. So that they will not mislead people to believe that anyone can be saved by their own works. God's righteousness is God's way to justify sinners. No commandment can justify any sin nor improve morality.
