What a great message for the start of a new year

 

As if sin has never existed! WOW! What a great message for the start of a new year. But is true? Isn't it too good to be true?

 

Hebrews 10:10 says: "By that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all". The "will" that this scripture refers to, is the will of God. Jesus came to earth to do God's will and it was God's will that we should be sanctified through the offering of Jesus Christ. One offer was enough.

 

The offerings that were described in the law and which you can read about in The Old Testament of the Bible, could not make people perfect. They had to be repeated and repeated, and that way they were also a reminder of sins every time. God's will that Jesus came to do, was to make a new covenant with us. He wanted to put His laws into our hearts and in our minds  -  not on stones (ref the ten commandments). Even more remarkable is it that God by this new covenant would no more remember our sins!

 

By believing that Jesus Christ died on the cross and that God raised Him from the dead, we are sanctified. What are the implications of being sanctified? One is that we are made perfect forever. No more offering is necessary, because we are already made perfect forever. The other is that God no more remembers our sins. Because of Jesus Christ, we can stand in front of God as if sin has never existed!

 

I do not know about you, but for me it really gives a wonderful perspective on life today, tomorrow and in the days, weeks and months to come. I am abundantly blessed because of undeserved grace given by God through His Son Jesus Christ.
